Straight-forward tunnel connecting the Mermaid's Kirk pool to the sea, largely relatively shallow (wading depth) at low-tide despite being permanently flooded with water.

Photo 1 shows the Mermaid's Kirk, near high tide, from the cliff to the south. The statement with this image, that it is connected to the sea through the cliffs to the right is incorrect. The channel going diagonally to the left is this NE entrance to the Mermaid's Kirk cave and it continues straight to the SW end until it joins a geo/creek running south into the sea.
OS 25in 3rd Ed shows the line of this "subterraneous passage."
