A linear, partly-supratidal cave formed along a fault plane with some small stalactite columns and flowstone noted along the eastern wall. The fault plane is tilted about 30 deg east from vertical. Appears to close down after c.30m at first but a short (although muddy) flat-out crawl leads into an inclined rift chamber. Significant volume of flotsam common in entrance, unlike other caves in the area.
Alternative Names: Arbroath Cave [3], Rift Cave, Stalactite Cave
Notes: The name of 'Web Cave' is recent & was first used by Iain Greig in c.2003 after unwittingly placing his head through an impressively large cobweb whilst negotiating the inner squeeze. This cave is questionably labelled as 'Stalactite Cave' on the 1968 OS map, hence this being listed as an alternative name for this entry. This (web) cave should not to be confused with the significantly larger Stalactite Cave located 180m further along the coast [see registry site #4641]. See 'Dynamite Cave' registry entry for discussion regarding the Stalactite Cave name usage.
Name, location and description by Iain Greig 18 Aug 20. Alt is a visual estimate by N Feilden on 11 Feb 22, and is ACD. Given length approx.
