A linear blocky sea cave at the eastern end of Sangobeg beach, formed by erosion along differentially weaker gneissose bands. The western entrance (2.2 m wide x ~4 m high) leads into 18 m of comfortable-sized walking passage floored by sandy beach deposits. 5 m in, a 2 m wide opening leads into a 4 m long perpendicular triangular-shaped passage that reaches a height of 2.6 m. After 18 m, an awkward 0.38 m wide squeeze allows for entry into a tight final section of cave, which closes down after approx. 5 m. The entirety of the cave can flood during certain high tides. Alternative Names: Sangobeg Cave No.1, Uamh nan Chreagan Achrannach
Notes: Cave name is derived from Gaelic for 'cave of intricate rocks'. Uamh nan (Cave of) Chreagan (either crags or little crag) and Achrannach (prickly, sticky, scabby or tempestuous).
