Ironstone Pit (19th Century).
Formerly at least 38 m deep, but now buried or erased within opencast mine grounds.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Shown as 'Old Ironstone Pit' on 1864 OS 6" map. It is possible that Pit No.11 was a separate neighbouring coal pit at the same site, rather than reusing an old ironstone pit for coal.
Given coordinates based on pit shaft location shown on Geological Survey 6" map (named 'No11', 21 fathoms [38 m] to Virtuewell Coal).
