Mine (Ironstone), late 19th Century.
Workings contiguous with those of pits 1, 2 & 4. Operated and abandoned by William Dixon Ltd in 1873. Shaft site buried below late pasture (possibly lost to any extended opencast mining).
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Workings shown as 'old waste workings' (i.e. probably collapsed) on No.5 abandonment plan. Curdley Ironstone seam 4-8 inch-thick.
Geol. Survey map states: "14 fms to Cur." [26 m to Curdly Ironstone]. Labelled as 'old shaft' on 1895 OS map, and absent from 1853 Ed. (surveyed 1852).
