Ironstone Mine, c.1860s.

Relatively extensive area of blackband ironstone workings (probably mined using the longwall method), extending S for c.300 m to Tennox Farm grounds [NS 3004 5242], & E for c.270 m to [NS 3045 5273]. Shaft site located at SE end of extensive bing structure. See abandonment plan (in refs) for layout.

Notes: Labelled as 'No 30' on geol. survey map. No surface features on 1st or 2nd Ed. OS maps (latter surveyed 1895).

Connected with workings of Kilbirnie Pit No.26, but separated from wasted workings of Kilbirnie Pit No.17, closest where there is a barrier of c.25-30 m at ~[NS 3033 5281].
