Ironstone Mine (19th Century)

Blackband ironstone workings from depth of 110 fms (seam dipping NE) in shaft located centrally to workings which became contiguous with those of No.30 pit to the NW and NE sides (see abandonment plan in refs). A stone mine level tunnel at 90 fms provided access to shallower parts of the seam towards the SW. Abandoned in 1876, shaft site now probably buried below yard beside W end of spoil surface structure.
