Mine (Fireclay), 20th Century.
Driven through the Lower Leaf fireclay of the Damhead Mine complex. The No.1 mine passages extended SE to an additional mine mouth beside the Shotts Burn at [NS 7916 6260], opposite the entrance to Budshaw Mine.
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Given 8 fig. coordinates are for the NW mine mouth, now buried below an industrial yard.
No.1 Mine mouth building marked on the NS76 OS map, shown with an aerial cable connecting it with the Chapelhall Brickworks to the NW.
Additional entrances were located around [NS 7889 6270], with an airshaft at [7889 6274].
