Possible duplication of the Cove Mine's Whimsey Shaft [see site #10102 notes], although potentially an additional site depicted by BGS maps.

Notes: Given name & coordinates derived from BGS GeoIndex. Spoil tip depicted at given coordinate on 1863 OS map, beside label of 'Old Lead Pit'. Shaft symbol shown at [NS 8716 1366] on BGS 10k map. No shaft depicted at this locality on Wells' 1756 map that shows Whim Shaft further N.
