Shafts (site of), 18th c.

Buried. Approx site of two closely-spaced lead mine shafts which were located on S side of former water course that contoured Wanlock Dod. Spoil mounds visible on N side of road, just E of ruined remains of the West Straitsteps miners' cottages.

Notes: Labelled with the given names on Wells' 1756 map (points c & d). Separate sites to the level portal sites a short distance to SE (points e).

Possibly trial shafts for Weir's Vein.
