Adit mouth, now buried.
Site of a portal to the 'Adit Level' of the New Glencrieff Mine is situated on the S side of Wanlock Water. Now hopelessly choked by pasture or gravel bank (cf. reworking of small spoil tip depicted on mine plan). The Adit Level here was a crosscut tunnel that extended SW to a point near the West Glencrieff Pit, forming crossroads with two near-perpendicular primary branches of the same level. The more northerly & primary branch terminated below the Meadowfoot cemetery, whilst the southern branch (which served the West Glencrieff Pit area) exited at a portal beyond Meadowfoot to the W [site #10078].
An adit to the overlying 'High Level' was located ca. 60m further uphill [see site #10120].
Alternative Names: None recorded.
Notes: Adit mouth & level layout shown on Mine Plan (SP1764) - see refs.
