OS map of 1899 shows an 'Old Shaft' on S side of trackway beside Glencrieve Cottage, ca. 10m SW of a 'Level' label where a steep embankment is present today (adit blocked). The major cross-cut tunnel joining the New Glencrieff & Lochnell lead mine workings passes under this location at the '180 fathom level', & may be associated with (or have been driven using) the portal / shaft.

See 'New Glencrieff Mine (Adit Level)' & 'New Glencrieff Mine (West Glencrieff Pit)' for main registry entries.

Alternative Names: None recorded.

Notes: "Crosscut to Bay started 1915" stated on AP11450.3, which may refer to Straitsteps that is the S continuation of the Bay Vein.

Glencrieve & Glencrieff are synonymous terms.
